Casamassima, also called the Blue Town, is an ancient medieval town located on the outskirts of the Murgia. Characterized by the typical chiassi, alleys, small squares, once enclosed by the walls of the village crowned by thirty-three towers. The place is particularly interesting as it is the crossroads of well-known easily accessible tourist locations such as: Bari (20 km), Matera – a UNESCO heritage city (54 km), the Itria valley with its famous trulli of Alberobello (35 km), caves of Castellana (23 km), the splendid Polignano a Mare – birthplace of Domenico Modugno (28 km), the white beaches of Monopoli (36 km), Conversano (18 km) with its fascinating cathedral and feudal castle, Trani (70 km) with its splendid Cathedral lying on the sea. Casamassima is also at the center of the tastiest culinary routes: Altamura (40 km), with the typical bread famous throughout the world and the succulent “sospiri” (“sighs”) – typical sweets, Sammichele di Bari (7 km) with its famous and typical roast sausages known as “zampine”, Gioia del Colle (20 km) with its world-famous dairy production.
As you leave the airport, follow the signs for the Bari ring road (SS16) towards Brindisi.
After approximately 18 km, take exit 13B towards Taranto.
Continue for about 15 km on the SS100 until the junction for Casamassima.
Take the Bari Nord exit of the A14 highway and continue towards Brindisi onto the SS16.
After approximately 8 km take exit 13B towards Taranto.
Continue for about 15 km on the SS100 until the junction for Casamassima.
